Chez Margot
The website of a village inn in Burgundy: warm, vintage and as generous as its cooking.

The context
Chez Margot is a family inn opened in 1962 in a Burgundy village. Margot’s grandson has taken over the stove and the old recipe notebook: beef bourguignon, eggs in red wine sauce, coq au vin, produce from neighbouring farms. Guests: locals, Sunday family lunches and tourists on the wine route.
The challenge
Make people want to take the detour: tell sixty years of history without looking dated, show generous cooking, make opening hours and access obvious, and let tourists and families book or organise a group meal in a few clicks.
The idea
Invite visitors into the inn: a gingham tablecloth framing the page, softly textured cream paper, photos shown as old prints laid askew, “since 1962” stamps, a menu printed like an old-fashioned card and today’s chalkboard written in chalk.

Vintage, not dated
Brick red, cream paper, wood brown and a hint of mustard. DM Serif Display brings the character of old shop signs, Lora the readability of a cookbook, and Caveat Julien’s handwriting on the chalkboard. The charm is in the details: double rules, ❦ fleurons, dotted leaders to the price, Margot’s recipes marked with ✿.

Easy to keep alive
The daily chalkboard, menu and opening hours are updated in a single file. Booking rules out closing days and evenings when the inn doesn’t serve. The “Find us” page answers the questions people ask on the phone (dogs, terrace, payments), and the English version welcomes wine-route tourists.

The outcome
A website that tastes like home: you can almost smell the bourguignon before opening the door. It showcases the family story, answers practical questions and makes booking easy, including for groups. Concept project by Mauvia; inn, family and prices are fictional, photos from Unsplash.
